Laurie Halse Anderson, the author of dozens of books for teens and kids, will be the keynote speaker for TBC '14. Her speech will begin promptly at 10 a.m. The Impossible Knife of Memory is her latest novel.

Matt is the author of five books for teens and a picture book for kids. He attended college on a basketball scholarship. Matt lives in Brooklyn and teaches creative writing at NYU and Vermont College. His latest novel for young adults is The Living.
Matt will be the closing speaker at TBC'14!

Svetlana ChmakovaSvetlana Chmakova was born and raised in Russia until the age of 16, when her family emigrated to Canada. She is best known for Dramacon, and the webcomic Chasing Rainbows for Girlamatic. She graduated from Sheridan College with a three-year Classical Animation Diploma. Her credits also include how-to-draw-manga books, RPG manuals, toy designs, and animation.

She currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband, two young sons, and her beloved TiVo. The Shadow Prince is her latest novel.

Marcus SedgwickMarcus Sedgwick was born and raised in East Kent in the South-east of England. His novel, Midwinter Blood just received the 2014 Printz Award. He was Writer in Residence at Bath Spa University for three years, and has taught creative writing at Arvon and Ty Newydd. He is currently working on film and other graphic novels with his brother, Julian. His latest novel is She Is Not Invisible.
 
   

Tess SharpeBorn in a backwoods cabin to a pair of punk rockers, Tess Sharpe grew up in rural California. Following an internship with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, she studied theater at Southern Oregon University before abandoning the stage for the professional kitchen. Jillian TamakiJillian Tamaki is an illustrator and comics artist. She lives in Brooklyn, NY, where she teaches at the School of Visual Arts and makes illustrations for magazines, newspapers, websites, and books. She is known for her embroideries on the Penguin "Threads" cover series, as well as the acclaimed graphic novel Skim, co-created with Mariko Tamaki.  
   
Mariko TamakiMariko Tamaki is a Canadian artist and writer. Best known for her 2008 graphic novel Skim, written with cousin, Jillian Tamaki, she has also published several works of both traditional written fiction and nonfiction. This One Summer is her latest graphic novel.  
   
Laini TaylorLaini Taylor is the author of the short story collection, Lips Touch Three Times, the Faeries of Dreamdark series, and the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. She lives with her husband and daughter in Portland, Oregon. Dreams of Gods and Monsters is her latest novel.  
   
Len VlahosLen Vlahos dropped out of NYU film school to play guitar, write songs, and tour with his band. After the band broke up, he began working in the book industry. He lives in Connecticut with his wife and sons. Scar Boys is his debut novel.  
   
John Corey WhaleyJohn Corey Whaley grew up in Springhill, Louisiana, where he learned to be sarcastic and to tell stories. He taught public school for five years while dreaming of becoming a full-time writer and dodging student projectiles. He's obsessed with movies, music, and traveling to new places.
