FAQs (frequently asked questions)
Q: What in the world is TeenBookCon?
A: The quick scoop: TeenBookCon is a free one-day event where we bring in some of the hottest YA authors to speak on panel sessions. Teens (and grown-ups) can sit in on panels throughout the day, ask questions of the authors, grab lunch from one of the food trucks, check out some of the public library booths, and grab some TeenBookCon swag! Visit our About page for more details.
Q: Do I need to register for TeenBookCon?
A: Yes! Registration is FREE!! Registration for 2024 will open in 2024.
Q: Will I be able to hear every author speak at TeenBookCon?
A: Be sure to plan ahead and visit the panels with your favorite authors since you might not be able to see every single author (multiple panel sessions happen at the same time). Check out our SCHEDULE page for details on all panel sessions.
Q: Where do I park? What about buses?
A: Check out this parking map. The physical address for Davis High School is 12525 Ella Blvd. Houston, TX 77067.
If you are bringing a busload, please see our Bus Dropoff & Parking Map.
Q: Can I bring my own books for the authors to sign at TeenBookCon?
A: Yes, for each book you purchase from Blue Willow Bookshop, you may bring one additional book from home to get signed.
Q: I'm not a teen. Can I still attend TeenBookCon sessions?
A: Yes, TeenBookCon welcomes all fans of YA literature. Please keep in mind that TeenBookCon is first and foremost an event for teens so we ask that in all panel sessions, teens should be given first priority in asking questions of our authors, and that teens are given priority seating at all sessions. Should a panel session become full, we will ask grown-ups to give up their seats to allow teens to sit.
Q: I'd like to volunteer to work at the festival...is that possible?
A: Yes! We'd love your help. The link to volunteer will open again in 2024.
Q: I'm a teacher/librarian brining a group of teens, how does that work?
A: If you will be coming by bus, check out the bus dropoff/parking map. Feel free to have your teens bring lunch, or they are welcome to buy pizza & drinks from the concessions area or grab something from one of the food trucks coming!
Q: Speaking of food, what lunch options are available?
A: Food options will be listed closer to the date of the event.
Q: How can I contribute to TeenBookCon?
A: Our generous partners and sponsors are what keeps TBC free for all to attend. We are always looking for sponsors that would be a good fit with TeenBookCon (and TBC a good fit for them!). If you know of any businesses or organizations that you think would be interested in learning more about sponsorship opportunities, please contact us at "teenbookcon@gmail.com". We rely on both monetary and in-kind donations! If you are an individual who would like to contribute, every amount helps and all donations are tax deductible. Please visit our sponsors page for more info.
Q: I'm an author, how can I participate in TeenBookCon?
A: You are welcome to come as an attendee, but we are no longer accepting self-submitted authors.
Q: Yeah all that was great info - but I still have questions. Who should I contact?
A: If you still have questions about TeenBookCon, please email us. Contact info is at the bottom of every page!
